From Engineer to Manager: My Journey at Palo Alto Networks

Building the Path from Day One

I joined Palo Alto Networks in January 2021, excited about the challenge of being part of a growing team. I was the second engineer hired in Spain's Global Customer Support team. From day one, I felt that this company was more than just a workplace, it was a community where talent, collaboration, and continuous learning were at the core.

I quickly realized I was in the right place. Surrounded by colleagues with incredible expertise and managers who provided genuine guidance and support, I was able to learn and grow at an accelerated pace. Not only did I acquire technical skills, but I also found myself in an environment where trust and autonomy were key to success.

The Pride of Building a Team

The experience was so enriching that I soon began recommending other professionals I had previously worked with. Making referrals was not just about bringing in talent but inviting people I admired to join a place where I knew they could develop and thrive.

As the team grew, so did my commitment. Naturally, I started mentoring and supporting new engineers. I discovered that this was one of the most rewarding aspects of my job: helping others integrate, learn, and feel part of something bigger.

Leading with Purpose

Over time, I organically transitioned into a team lead role with a clear priority: ensuring the well-being of our engineers and the total satisfaction of our customers. I understood that a motivated and well-supported team translated into better service and stronger results.

This natural growth within the company led me to take the next step at the end of 2024. Driven by my desire to make a bigger impact and further promote the incredible work we do, I applied for and secured the position of Manager in the Focused Services team, which I currently hold.

The Value of People

For me, the role of a Manager goes beyond handling projects and objectives. It’s about fostering an environment of collaboration and support, where engineers can help each other and grow together. A strong team not only improves workplace dynamics but also enhances the customer experience.

Another fundamental aspect of leadership is motivation. Understanding the personal and professional needs of each individual makes all the difference. A motivated team is a strong team, and a strong team is the driving force behind success.

Throughout these years, I have come to realize that Palo Alto Networks is more than just a job; it is a place where people can develop, learn, and grow. Here, respect for individuals, continuous innovation, and teamwork create an environment where every day is an opportunity to move forward.
